From depressed, anxious, and sleep deprived to
happy, healthy, and thriving!
Hey there, I’m Angela, founder of Angela Lago Nutrition and Eat Love Gut Health. My healing journey was my driving force behind the creation of this website in 2020.
Have you ever reached the point where you just knew that something had to give? Well, that’s what happened to me when I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, in 2019.
By that point, I had already suffered from a decade of chronic stress and the symptoms that come along with that; fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, depression, and anxiety to name a few.
After reaching multiple dead ends with conventional medical care, I decided to take matters into my own hands. During that time, I discovered the unbelievable connection between gut health and mental wellness.
As a Registered Dietitian of over 20 years, it stunned me to find out about the gut brain axis and the fact that how you feel is not just in your head
As I worked to improve the way I was feeling naturally, I began to realize that I needed to share this information with others that may be having the same struggles. That’s when the Eat Love Gut Health blog (formerly The Mental Wellness Dietitian) was born!
I wanted to create a space for women like myself to come to and find trusted information, from a qualified health professional, that has also had many physical, emotional, and mental struggles of her own to overcome.
To me, it makes a difference to know that someone has walked a mile (or 10,000) in your shoes! I’ve never wanted someone with a picture perfect life trying to help me put mine back together…ya know?!
What you’ll find here is a compilation of topics that I have researched in order to serve both my health and yours!
You can enjoy yummy, gut healthy recipes (EAT), various other topics related to gut health and mental wellness (my true LOVE), and trusted gut health & diet specific information (GUT HEALTH).
More About Me
I live in Southeastern NC, surrounded by beautiful beaches! There’s nothing like the serenity of the ocean. It feels so healing!
As previously mentioned, I have been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) for over 20 years! I have spent nearly all of those 20 years working in the hospital setting.
I love cooking, traveling, being outside, boating on the intracoastal waterway, and hiking in the blue ridge mountains…luckily, all of which can be done right here in beautiful North Carolina!
I am a wife and mom of two teenagers and we have a very spoiled golden doodle that basically has us all tied around her little fluffy paw.
I understand what it’s like trying to juggle all of life’s responsibilities at the same time, while also trying to figure out how to take great care of yourself.
If you’re anything like me, you have learned a few things in life the hard way. I’m here to make at least one thing more simple for you, and that is learning simple tips for a happy, healthier YOU!
Thanks for being here
